A popular software operating system and a product of Microsoft, Windows is a modern computer application used in every PC or Desktop around the world. With an origin of 1985, Windows has a long history of growth and rise from being just a simple operating system to becoming technology rich software system.

Windows is designed to suit both home users and It Professionals, which is why Microsoft came up with a series of versions to windows starting from Windows 1.0 to the most recent one being Windows 7.

Each Windows version was released to overcome the flaws of and to upgrade the working of the previous one. Windows 1.0 was just an extension of MS-DOS and lacked some major functionality feature and to deal with it Microsoft launched Windows 2.0, but Windows 3.0 was the version that made it big in commercial success with the multitasking feature and more. Windows NT was more of a professional OS tool which was then re-designed (as XP) for home users. What followed later was release of versions like Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista.

Freeware software, Windows Defender was designed and launched by Microsoft with an objective of spyware and other software protection.
